The North Branch Smallmouth Alliance is a non-profit organization whose members are
dedicated to the preservation of Quality Smallmouth Bass fishing on the North Branch of
the Susquehanna River.

Our organization consists of both novice anglers and professional fishing guides, who
wish to maintain and or improve the quality of smallmouth bass fishing on our home
waters. We are not governed by the quest to harvest as many fish as possible. Although
most of our member's practice and support catch and release angling only, our
organization does support "selective" harvest of individual small bass on a limited basis.

The desire to harvest Smallmouth Bass is not a reason we love and enjoy our sport.
Indeed, we realize that the old attitudes of catching a limit of fish to measure success are
not viable in today's angling climate of increasing fishing pressure and declining fish size
and numbers.

It is our hope that by educating the average angler to the benefits of releasing larger and
therefore older fish, we as a group of anglers will only benefit as a whole. It is our
intention as an organization to educate the average fisherman and children of the
benefits of Catch and Release Angling, therefore improving the fishing for quality
Smallmouth Bass while maintaining its overall habitat in our river.

In addition to preserving quality Smallmouth fishing, our organization also works in
cooperation with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission and other organizations in
supporting conservation measures, pollution awareness and overall fish habitat
improvement on the North Branch.
